Cranberry Orange Scones

Hi everyone!

On Sunday, I had the pleasure of accompanying my mom to go see my grandma at her house. We wanted to have dinner with her, and my mom and I wanted to make her scones from the CookiesandCups cookbook!

My fiancé’s stepmom is the owner/founder of CookiesandCups, and if you don’t know Shelly or her recipes, definitely check them out because they are delicious! I found the recipe in her cookbook, and wanted to show you how delicious they turned out!

Now there is a story behind these scones so bare with me! For those of you who don’t know, I recently lost my grandpa. Before my he passed away, my mom and I promised him we would make him scones from Shelly’s cookbook. He loved scones and I knew Shelly’s recipe was amazing. Unfortunately, a day or two after we promised my grandpa we would make him scones he was put on a strict diet because of the cancer.

The pretty dough!

We never had the opportunity to make them for him, but on Sunday my mom and I finally were able to make them for my grandma. When they were done, we toasted scones to my grandpa because we knew he would have loved them (they came out great). It meant so much to me to finally bake them for my grandma. 🍊💛 I know my grandpa was there with us, and it was just a great day all around!

I love spending time with my family, and I really do enjoy baking something new every now and then! I hope to try more recipes from her cookbook, and I hope to make these scones again sometime soon!

How was your weekend? Do you like baking with your family?

Bible Verses to Help You Through Hard Times

Good morning everybody, happy snow day!

Whether you are missing someone you love, missing someone you’ve lost, hurting because of emotional or even physical pain, there always seems to be a bible verse to help guide us through our troubles. I don’t usually like to be too religious on my blog, but lately I’ve been dealing with a lot of what-ifs, and a lot of conflicting emotions, so here are four of my favorite bible verses that have been giving me strength. I hope they give you strength as well.

“The pain you’ve been feeling can’t compare to the joy that is coming”

Romans 8:18

I’m going to start with Romans because St. Paul’s letter to the Romans has to be one of the most motivating and encouraging sections in the bible. If you haven’t read Romans, or if you aren’t familiar, there is so much in Romans that can be used to boost your own morale and deepen your belief in God.

“Blessed is she who believed the Lord will fulfill His promises to her”

– Luke 1:45

When I am feeling overwhelmed by all of the what-ifs that are present in my life, I have to remind myself that God has a plan for me, and with patience, His plan will be made known to me. He will fulfill His promises to me, and everything is going to be okay.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love”

– Jeremiah 31:3

This verse makes me feel safe, loved, and accepted by God. It reminds me to love with an unwavering heart, and reminds me that He loves me more than I could ever imagine. Through my many flaws and mistakes, He accepts and forgives and never withholds love.

“If God is for us, who could ever be against us?”

– Romans 8:31

Probably my original FAVORITE bible verse I discovered when I went through RCIA bible study four years ago, this verse is also from St. Paul’s letter to the Romans (I told y’all it was motivating). This verse makes so many statements in it’s short, 11 words. If God is for us – for me – who could ever tear me down? Who could ever make me feel less than? This quote is applicable not only to oneself, but also to the special relationships we hold with others. We need not be afraid of the unknown because God is for us, therefore, whatever will happen will be what is right.

I hope these verses give you strength, and feel free to comment below your favorite and most comforting bible verses! ❤ I would love to know what they are, and to read them.

Enjoy this snowy day everybody, until next time

First Bridal Expo (with my Dad!)

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I went to my first bridal expo EVER!! It was so much fun!! My dad ended up going with me which I was super happy about because I had mixed up the dates thinking it was on Monday the 15th, so everyone who was going to come with me today ended up not being able to. However, my dad offered to go and I think he was happy to come and be involved!

The expo was held at the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ. The inn itself is a gorgeous place, and the inside was still decorated beautifully for the holidays! My dad and I were able to eat (A LOT!!) of yummy food, try some different alcohol (including some mimosas), and chow down on some cakes and desserts! There were a ton of different vendors, and a lot of bride-to-be’s walking around with their bride tribes and significant others.

Not only did we get plenty of free food and drinks, we received some awesome samples, discounts codes and cards. Check out my pictures below. Displayed are some of the many companies I interacted with.

The succulent plant was complimentary from a florist I really liked. Their whole table included purple, mauve, and succulent floral arrangements which is everything I want for my wedding day. They were very friendly, and reasonably priced, and compared to all of the other florists, their arrangements and presentation felt more similar to me and my style!

The squeezable groom is actually a stress toy so you can keep him in your pocketbook whenever you are stressed out with wedding planning or life in general! Haha! The groom toy and a discount was my gift from an awesome and local bridal hair and makeup company called Pretty Please bridal. I talked to a few bridal makeup places, and this one was my favorite at the expo!

I’m pretty sure I know which DJ company and photobooth company I want (they were not at this expo, I’ve found them through my own research), however, Dad and I took full advantage of the photobooth vendor who was at this expo!

Here is some of the information from the florist and the bridal makeup company I really liked! If you are a NJ, NY, or PA bride who follows me, these are great vendors to look into.

Speaking of which, I got a free eyelash application from a different bridal hair and makeup booth (I didn’t like them as much as I liked Pretty Please bridal, but free dramatic lashes is AWESOME!). The lashes she applied complimented my eye makeup today! I used the JaclynHillxMorphe palette. I used Pooter and Roxanne in my crease and inner and outer v. I brought those same two colors to my lower lashline to compliment the lid. Then I used Little Lady on the center of my eyelid, and used Enlight as a brow and inner corner highlight.

I really am excited to figure out a venue and nail one down with my fiancè so we can take our time planning and finding the perfect vendors for the other parts of our special day. If you’ve been a long time follower of my blog, you know he is in the military, so hopefully his job responsibilities don’t interfere with us waiting until 2019 to have our special day.

Next weekend I will be attending another bridal expo! Stay tuned for more bridal expo and wedding planning updates! I can’t wait to marry my best friend!

Lots of love!

First Professional Performances – I Can’t Believe This Is Real Life

Hi ladies and gents!

This summer, I have had the opportunity to dance in my first professional productions and dance concerts. I am so grateful for the opportunities I have had, and I cannot wait to see how my career develops over the rest of this year! Anyway, last week I finished a performance series with Introspective Movement Project – a Philly-based contemporary-jazz dance company. Introspective Movement Project (Let’s call it I.M.P. for short) hosted the That Which Connects Festival – a dance festival in Camden, NJ that celebrates the dance community from the the greater Philadelphia and greater New York City areas.

IMP 10

Three days leading up to the festival, we also hosted a summer intensive for dance students. The intensive allowed the students to train for three very long days in various dance styles. For the students, each day culminated with a three hour rehearsal where my lovely director set a new piece on the students to perform in the festival showcase. This gave the students an opportunity to perform alongside all of the professional companies who were performing in the showcase. That Which Connects attempts to bridge the gap between pre-professional and professional dancers, which I believe is a beautiful convergence.

As a company, we were at the theater everyday rehearsing for a few hours, and we also had the opportunity to take whatever classes we could fit into our day (after rehearsals of course). It was a very exhausting week of traveling, dancing, and rehearsing, however, it was probably one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! It was my first real taste into a professional dance career and lifestyle, and it was awesome!

I can’t wait to see what is next for I.M.P., and for me as I pursue some other dance opportunities. I really hope I can get more work for the fall and winter season, as I’ve now realized I love the craziness of a professional performer’s life. Each day in rehearsal for the festival, I thought to myself. “I can’t believe this is my life”. Imagine the dream you’ve always had coming true, and multiply it by 10 and that is the awe I felt the week of the festival.

If you asked 17 year old me if I was going to be a professional dancer one day, I would have told you “Maybe, but I don’t know if I’m good enough or if that is what I want”. Now 5 years later, I am officially a professional dancer, and am proud as hell to tell people, “Yes I dance for a living!”.

Never stop believing in the possibility of your dreams because literally anything is possible if you want it bad enough!! ❤

How has your summer dance season been? What performances did you dance in or see? Let me know!

Heartache Playlist

Hey loves!

Tonight’s post is going to be a little different than usual. Due to recent events, I’ve found myself dealing with a broken heart and honestly, I think I’m handling it much better than I thought I would be. I also feel like I’m comfortable in my new found solitude, which is not something I expected would be the case. Nonetheless, we all have those moments when we our emotions hit us all at once, and we find ourselves longing for a reliving of past glory days where everything seemed OK. And we all have a soundtrack for our lives, and I thought tonight I’d share some songs that have been helping me through this emotional time. They range from songs that helped me cry, songs that helped me channel my anger, songs that helped me feel confident, and songs that helped me cheer up. I will hyperlink all song titles in the list below so you can listen to them on YouTube. They are in no particular order, but if you’re dealing with heartache like I am, here are some songs to make your healing process a little better! ❤
