New Essence Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palettes?!

Hello beautifuls!

I was in Harmon Face Values the other day picking up a new tube of my favorite Essence Cosmetics Princess Lash mascara, when I noticed their product section had been expanded. I noticed there were three new eyeshadow palettes as well, each retailing for $9.99 each and coming with 16 pans of eyeshadow color! The palettes are titled “Spice Up Your Life”, “I’m with the Band”, and “Fairy Wings and Magical Things”.

The “Spice Up Your Life” palette caught my eye – not only because the palette title reminds me of the iconic Spice Girls song, but also because the design of the packaging was reminiscent of fall (which if you’re a long-time reader you know is my FAVORITE season). I didn’t buy the palette, but I took some pictures of it to show you all what it looked like because it was so cute, and seemed like a good deal!

You can see why the packaging caught my eye – what a cute design! I love all of the spice doodles like the cinnamon stick and the pepper! Here is what the inside looks like.

The eyeshadows have a clear packaging over them so there was a lot of reflection from the store lights, but how great is the shade range? There is a nice balance of warm-toned and cool-toned shades, which make this palette seem super versatile! I hope one day I will be able to check it out!

The other two palettes included different color families, and their own fun combination of colors to match their themes. I will try to capture photos of the other two the next time I am in this store. Essence has so many fun and pretty products I want to try, especially now that their selection is so large in Face Values.

I am in NO WAY trying to rush summer, but fall beauty is my favorite!! There are always so many fun product launches all with fall themed packaging and color schemes. I can’t wait to see what else will be released by the end of August through October!

Have you tried this palette? What are your thoughts?!

Fall Drug Store Haul

Hi beautiful readers!

I wanted to share with you some great products I bought last week. This past weekend, I traveled to North Carolina to visit my boyfriend, and go to a wedding, so I had a lot of opportunity to test theses products out. This haul included e.l.f. products which I ordered off of their website, some Essence cosmetics products, and a Wet N Wild rainbow highlighter which I purchased at Harmon’s Face Values.

The products include:

  1. e.l.f. cosmetics Brow Pencil in the shade Taupe
  2. e.l.f. cosmetics Acne Fighting Foundation in the shade Porcelain
  3. e.l.f. cosmetics Eyelid Primer in the shade Pearl
  4. e.l.f. cosmetics Concealer in the shade Fair
  5. e.l.f. cosmetics Tinted Lip Oil in the shade Mocha Kiss
  6. Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara
  7. Essence Cosmetics I Love Colour Intensifying Eyeshadow Base
  8. Wet N Wild Color Icon Rainbow Highlighter in the shade Unicorn Glow

So the first three e.l.f. products I’ve tried before and LOVED, but decided to try them in different shades that I felt match my skin and hair colors better. The eyebrow pencil is a favorite of mine, and usually I use the pencil in warm brown, however the taupe color matches my eyebrows much better and gives them a more natural full effect.

Swatches from the top down: Tinted lip oil, eyebrow pencil, concealer, e.l.f. eyelid primer, Essence eyelid primer

The Acne Fighting Foundation has been a favorite of mine as well, but since fall is here and my summer tan has faded, my old Beige shade was too dark. This lighter color is closer to my skin tone and provides great coverage like the Beige one, however, I feel like e.l.f. needs to expand their range of foundation shades since this doesn’t quite match my skintone and it is such a great product.

This Essence mascara I’ve wanted to try for a long time, and fortunately, I am really happy with it! It does lengthen and separate lashes, making them look longer than some other drug store brands I’ve tried. My only complaint with this mascara is that when you rub your eyes, it leaves grey marks under the eyes which is not cute.

Between the eyelid primers (Essence and e.l.f.), I enjoy the texture of the e.l.f. one better. However, I usually buy the e.l.f. primer in sheer and I prefer the sheer color to this pearl one. Both the Essence and e.l.f. ones are good to have on hand, though, since they both last decently throughout the night.

So I’ve been eyeing this Wet N Wild highlighter for a long time, and I bought it just to give it a try. Plus, it will be great to include for my Halloween costume (I’m being a mermaid), so this product is just super fun. Check out my swatch of it! You can see all of the different shades of the rainbow.

I think my favorite product in this haul is the Tinted Lip Oil from e.l.f.! It smells like Mocha and is super yummy. It is lightweight enough to wear everyday, but elegant enough to wear to a party. It leaves a natural pigment on the lips and is not super sticky which is a plus!

This concludes the review of my haul, and I am really happy with all of the products I’ve bought. Do you see anything you’ve been wanting to try? Which products do you like that I bought?

Thanks for reading, until next time!

Hey Boo… Did you Get your Black Magic October Ipsy Bag?

Hello boo-tifuls! (Sorry not sorry for all of the puns). Are you as excited as I am for the October glambag?! It is sooo cute! I didn’t post early access this month because I wanted my bag to be a surprise – and I am actually quite happy with my bag this month! I only received one full-sized product, but all of the products I did receive work fairly well, and are very usable for my everyday makeup routine!

Let’s start with the glambag itself. The design was a collaboration between Ipsy and the animation artist Valfré! If you don’t know who Valfré is, I suggest you go to her site and look at her artwork – it’s super cute! The bag’s design goes with the theme of the month – Black Magic – and it’s not the typical Halloween orange and black color scheme which I like. The bag is actually a light lavender shade with black Halloween graphics all over it. The best part? The zipper is a ghost with hearts for eyes!! I love this bag!!

Here is a list of the products in my bag:

  1.  Ciaté London Fierce Flicks Eyeliner
  2. the Balm Cosmetics Hot Mama Blush
  3. ModelCo Instant Brows Brow Pencil in Light/Medium
  4. tre’StiQue Matte Lip Crayon in Belize Bordeaux

  5. pūr~lisse Daily Lip Nourisher with Mango and Shea Butters

Although only one product was full-sized, all of these products are quite functional for me!

The Ciaté London Fierce Flicks Eyeliner surprised me! This was my favorite product in my bag! I don’t wear a lot of winged liquid liner anymore, if I wear any eyeliner at all, but this eyeliner works amazing! It’s a true matte black and goes on smooth. The felt tip of the pen is accurate and precise as well. I can see myself reaching for this product a lot!! It reminds me of the Lancome Art Liner (which I’ve used and LOVED!), but the Ciaté liner is actually MORE pigmented. The Lancome liner doesn’t smudge as much as this one, but the Ciaté liner stays put pretty much all day. The only smudging I noticed was a little in my outer corners at the end of the day.

My second favorite product was the Balm Cosmetics Hot Mama Blush! I don’t buy a lot of blush, but the Balm never disappoints me with their products, so I knew this blush was going to be amazing. The color works well with my skin tone, and it stays pigmented and fresh looking all day long! I love this, and am considering picking up a full-sized pan! The only think I didn’t like was that this blush has a shimmery tint. I generally prefer my blushes matte, but this one was a nice exception.

The ModelCo Instant Brows Brow Pencil in Light/Medium was a disappointment. I enjoy the precise tip and the brow brush on the cap, but this color and formula didn’t work well for my eyebrows at all. The formula is not waxy, and the color is a little too warm for my hair color. I feel like when I wear this product, people can tell I filled in my brows (which is opposite of the effect I want from a brow pencil). I love brow pencils, but for this one I’m going to have to pass.

The tre’StiQue Matte Lip Crayon in Belize Bordeaux was another sort-of let down product in my bag. I like the buttery formula of the lip crayon, but the color doesn’t work for my skin. It makes my teeth look yellow-ish (when my teeth aren’t really yellow), and the shade doesn’t look right on my skin at all. I was hoping I was going to receive the other color (Florence Fig), which is a neutral pink. Nonetheless, the color I received is not going to give me a lot of use.

Finally, the next and final surprising product in my bag was the pūr~lisse Daily Lip Nourisher with Mango and Shea Butters. It is matte liquid lipstick season, and I am ALWAYS trying to moisturize my lips before I apply my liquid lipsticks. This products is AMAZING. It keeps my liquid lipstick from drying my lips out too much, and it leaves my lips feelings soft and supple. I will definitely be purchasing a full-size of this product once the late fall and the beginning of winter come. If you need a good product to prep your lips for liquid matte lipstick, this is it!

Overall, I’d give this bag a 4 out of 5 stars (1 being the worst, 5 being the best). I was a little disappointed with only one full-sized product, but I am so excited all of the products are so functional and useful for colder weather. I am also super happy with how well-developed the theme of this bag was, and how the design of the bag makes sense with the theme.

Halloween is only 10 days away!! What did you receive in your Ipsy Black Magic bag this month? Are you happy with your bag? What was your favorite product?

Until next time ghouls!

ColourPop Cosmetics Labor Day Order

colourpop-labor-day-order-2016Hello gorgeous creatures! My ColourPop order from Labor Day weekend finally came in, and I am so happy with these products!! ❤ Omg, seriously you guys, this fall all of my favorite shades are trending in beauty. Cool toned pinks/reds, and dark purples/plums are all in the beauty scene right now and I’m loving it. When ColourPop launched their Fall Edit, I snagged their new SuperShock eyeshadow in the shade “Tang” which is a rosy matte mauve color,  “Alyssa”which is a cool-toned pink nude Ultra Satin lip from the KathleenLights collaboration, and a free full-sized new lip color called “Viper” which is a cool-toned berry Ultra Matte lip.

This shadow is so pretty! I think it makes the perfect crease shade, and it will look really nice paired with my Carli Bybel palette from BH Cosmetics (Read about that palette here: ULTA Beauty Birthday Haul). It is full of mauvey rose shades as well, and I think layering this color under some of the colors in that palette will look great for fall!

“Alyssa” is the first Ultra Satin lip I’ve tried from ColourPop, and I LOVE the formula. It doesn’t dry down matte, so there is some transfer. However, it doesn’t sit in the cracks and creases of the lips, and the formula is buttery and almost fluffy. This color doesn’t look the best with my skin tone, but I’m definitely going to wear this color throughout the next few months because it is so gorgeous. It’s a great shade for everyday wear.

“Viper” was a free gift with purchase, and a brand new shade. This color is the perfect fall berry color! It looks a lot darker on me than I expected, but it doesn’t make my teeth look yellow or make my lips look really dry. It is an Ultra Matte, though, so I prep my lips with Blistex before applying this on top so it doesn’t sit in the creases of my lips. It stays on for a long time (I wore it yesterday to work), and it lasted through the classes I taught. ColourPop’s next Fall Edit launch didn’t include this shade, but I think that’s because they may be releasing even more products come late September and early October – this lip color being one of them.

From top to bottom: Tang eyeshadow, Alyssa Ultra Satin, Viper Ultra Matte

I’m so excited I have these colors now in my collection to use this fall! I also have a special coupon code ColourPop sent me to use within the next month, and I am hoping they release even more shades soon so I can use my coupon 🙂

Look out for their Fall Edit 2 which is launching this Thursday on the ColourPop website!

Did you order from ColourPop recently? What did you get?

Until next time!

Fall Beauty Wishlist 2016

HELLO beauties! Happy Labor Day!

It is officially September, which means I can officially start getting hyped for fall and my favorite holiday – Halloween! September also means I can start getting excited over all of the fall releases makeup companies are launching! I may or may not have already taken advantage of the ColourPop Labor Day sale, where I ordered two new products from their Fall Edit, and an Ultra Satin lip color in the shade “Alyssa” from the KathleenLights collaboration. Nonetheless, I have a list of products that were released in the last few months that I really want to purchase and try for this fall season! Today I wanted to share with you all some products I’ve been eyeing for some time now.

First of all, I REALLY REALLY want the Morphe 35F Fall Into Frost palette! This palette has a whole row of matte shades along the bottom, and then the other four are all frosted, shimmery shades! Ugh, everything about this palette is perfection. I don’t own anything from Morphe, but this palette looks like it would be perfect for different fall-inspired eye looks. Maybe I can finally order this when I start my new job next week and start making money!

Next, I am kicking myself I didn’t order the ColourPop highlighter in the shade “Hippo” when I placed my order yesterday. I’ve been dying to try a tinted highlight, and  “Hippo” is an icy silver highlighter with a lavender shift. ColourPop just sent me a $5.00 off coupon code that is good for use within the next month, so again once I start making money at my new job I’ll probably place another order from CP. Hopefully by that time, ColourPop will also have released more new products for me to try!

Finally, there are 3 Jeffree Star products I want to try. I am a little late to the Jeffree Star party, but seeing all of the reviews of his Skin Frosts and liquid lipsticks – I feel like it’s time to try them. Two of his matte liquid lipsticks I’m drooling over are “Doll Parts”, and “Virginity”. I’m concerned “Virginity” may look too light on my fair skin, but I’ve heard amazing reviews of his matte liquid lipstick formula!

Furthermore, Lavender Snow is the Skin Frost that I want to try!! ❤ Again, this is a cool-toned icy silver highlight with a lavender shift. All of his Skin Frosts have sold out, but I am curious to see if these highlighters go on sale/promotion for Black Friday/Cyber Monday! If so, I will definitely pick it up, however, in the meantime I think if I can get my hands on ColourPop’s “Hippo” I’ll be content!

These are my top picks and wishes for the fall season, though I am sure this list will become longer once more makeup companies begin launching their fall collections. I’ve been excited for the Wet N Wild fall collection since August (Read about that here: Wet n Wild Fall Collection 2016!), and I’m hoping the fall season will give me a lot of fun choices to add to my collection to last me through the winter! ❤

What beauty products are you most excited for this fall?
