Autumn Leaves Inspired Eyes

Hi beauty lovers!

I created a really beautiful look with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette on Friday, resembling the colors of the changing fall leaves!

autumn leaves 2017

I used Burnt Orange and buffed it into my crease and the inner and outer v of my eyelid. Then I took Red Ochre and darkened my outer v, inner v, and crease with it. I took a small amount of Venetian Red and darkened just the outer v a little bit more! Then I spread Primavera all over my the center of my eyelid!

My lashes are the Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess! This mascara makes my lashes sooo long! My lip color is a new favorite from e.l.f. cosmetics! It’s their Tinted Lip Oil in Mocha Kiss! It is not sticky at all, is very pigmented, and smells like mocha! It is the perfect subtle/neutral complement to this pigmented eye makeup.

What do you all think of this look? I loved how warm the colors are, and how the golds and oranges mimick the colors of the changing trees! Let me know what you think!

Leaps of Faith Vegan & Cruelty-Free Homemade Eyeshadow

Hi beautiful ladies and gentlemen JLoF readers of the internet! I have something to show you and I cannot contain my excitement!! Are you ready?!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I ordered all of the tools and equipment necessary to begin formulating and pressing my very own eye shadows! All of the colors I ordered are vegan and not used on animals, and since I am testing the shadows I create on myself and some close people in my life, they are 100% cruelty-free!

I am most likely going to open an Etsy shop or some type of online shop to sell my homemade cosmetics beginning hopefully mid-summer! I also hope to begin making matte eyeshadows, blush, and highlighters! Here are the first three shadows I created (the names are names I created for the formulation):

They are so creamy and pigmented!

Babydoll is a light pink in a satin finish. Firebird is a metallic/sparkly warm red with orange undertones. Speak Easy is a multi-chrome glitter that looks green, red, purple, and even blue depending on the lighting and what base shadow you use under it!

Today I used all three colors to create an eye look! I only used my own shadows, and e.l.f. eyelid primer/e.l.f. expert liner. Check it out!

Babydoll all over lid, Firebird in outer v and blended out through crease, Speak Easy inner corner.

Today I created four other colors, and I have to let them dry for 12-24 hours so they are 100% good to use and set in their pans. Here are my newest colors!

Sun Ray, Mud Slide, Dusty Tulip, & Mojave!

Sun Ray is a warm peachy pink in a satin finish. Mud Slide is a warm chocolate brown with flecks of glitter, Dusty Tulip is a cool-toned dusty pink mauve color in a satin finish, and Mojave is a redder mauve with flecks of glitter, and it has more warm tones in it.

These are all my own creations and my own names for them to keep them organized. This has been my latest DIY project because I realized how much money I spend on eyeshadow, and how I can literally create any eyeshadow I want with a little bit of time and effort (and by spending a lot less money!).

I hope you all think these shadows are as gorgeous as I do!! What do you think? Would you be interested if I opened my own Etsy shop or online store? Comment below! Btw, part of the giveaway might be a few homemade eyeshadows from yours truly 😉

Sending so much love to you all! Until next time!

LUSH Cosmetic Warrior Face Mask

Hello beautiful internet people! Happy Monday!

I worked all weekend at my retail job, and lucky for me, I was given a FREE Lush face mask! I’ve never tried Lush before since it’s a bit pricey for my budget, but have always wanted to! My manager is friends with some of the managers at the Lush in the mall I work at, and they had ordered a few extra products and decided to make a special delivery to our store to give us some free face masks! Super exciting!

There was a few to choose from, and although I wanted the Rose mask, I decided to go with the Cosmetic Warrior mask based on the recommendation from my one manager. She said since I like to do a full face of makeup on the weekends, this mask isn’t harsh and is a good wash for deep cleansing. I’ve been breaking out a little lately, so I decided to give this mask a try, and I am really happy I did!

This product is vegetarian, and contains all natural ingredients. As you see from the packaging, this product needs to stay refrigerated or it will go bad. Here is a list of the ingredients:

  • Kaolin
  • Fresh green grapes
  • Fresh free-range eggs
  • Honey
  • Cornstarch
  • Glycerine
  • Fresh garlic
  • Tea tree oil
  • Limonene
  • Fragrance

This product smells earthy and really herby. I like it though because it doesn’t smell gross – the scent of the tea tree oil overpowers most of anything else in it. Tonight I tried it out for the first time, and I have to say I am a bit disappointed in the product.

Me with the face mask on ( Disclaimer: the plastic thing on my neck holds my Samsung Gear Circle in place)

You can’t really see it in the picture, but there were pieces of green grape skin on my face. I really liked the scent of this mask, but I didn’t feel my skin tingle or feel any sort of indication the mask was doing it’s job. After letting the mask sit for 7 minutes, I washed it off, but I struggled to get the mask off of my face. The packaging says to use warm water, but I was using somewhat hot water, and I was scrubbing to get this stuff off of me.

Now post-mask, my skin feels a bit dry. It felt dry before, but it feels drier now. My skin feels a bit cleaner, and my forehead skin feels slightly tighter, but I don’t think it did much to cleanse my skin.

I also didn’t wear much makeup today to school, so maybe the next time I wear a lot of makeup (this weekend for my spring dance concert is probably a perfect time), I will try it again and see if it dissolves my makeup effectively. I have to use a product a few times to gain a good handle on it’s effectiveness, but right now Lush isn’t impressing me. I give the brand an A+ though on product ingredients, being vegetarian, and being cruelty-free though!

What are your opinions of Lush? Are there products I should try that work well? Let me know your favorites!

Have a beautiful evening lovelies!

The Beauty Blogger Award

Thank you!

I am so excited to announce this! I’ve been nominated for the Beauty Blogger Award!! I’d like to give a big thank you to LearningBeaut who nominated me, and if you haven’t checked out her blog, please do so! Anything and everything beauty related can be found on her site ❤

Cheesin’ hard because I’m feeling the love!

Here are the rules:

  1. Tag the blogger who nominated you.
  2. Answer the questions you were given.
  3. Nominate 10 people whose blog is about beauty or fashion.
  4. Make 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
  5. Inform the blogger you chose that you nominated them.

Questions Given To Me:

  1. Do you use more high-end or drugstore products?

Drug store beauty queen is the name of my game! This is because I think drug store brands have really been stepping their game up in product quality, but also because I am a college student and it’s hard to afford higher end products on my small salary. I only have a small selection of higher end beauty products, most of which I received as gifts.

  1. What does your everyday makeup look consist of?

When I am not dancing (because in dance class I only wear concealer under my eyes and mascara), I wear Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous liquid and pressed powder foundation, Wet & Wild bronzer, e.l.f. eyelid primer, e.l.f. fill and lift eyebrow stick, and a mix of different brands of eyeshadows! Mostly ColourPop, the Balm, Profusion, or e.l.f. Then I finish my look with L’Oreal Voluminous mascaras!

  1. Are you into beauty trends? If so what was your favorite trend of last year?

I wouldn’t say I’m into them, but I definitely pay attention to what’s new! I really enjoyed the 90’s lip color trend that was popular this fall, and the balayage ombre hair trend.

  1. What are your hopes for the beauty world in 2016?

In 2016, I hope to see more cruelty-free brands taking center-stage. I also hope to see the growing ultra-matte lip trend grow bigger because I love matte lipsticks. Finally, I want to continue to see companies promote their eye shadows! I cannot get enough eyeshadow, and I love finding new brands.

  1. What is one of your favorite midnight snack?

I usually don’t have one, however, I really enjoy cheesy snacks (Cheez-Its, Goldfish, cheesy popcorn, etc.). Anything cheesy and I’m down!

  1. Favorite book?

The Great Gatsby ❤ It is such a classic and tragic love story. In a weird way, I feel like I can relate to Jay Gatsby’s character on some levels! He’s a hopeless romantic, and I am too!

  1. Strobing or contour?

I’d have to say contour. I really enjoy contouring with bronzer or this contour palette I have – it makes my face makeup look great! I’ve never tried strobing, but I want to! I finally am getting the hang of applying this NYX highlighter I own, and I have a ColourPop highlighter coming in the mail, so I’m definitely down to try it!

  1. What is your favorite lip color to wear?

Recently, I have been wearing this mauvey pink e.l.f. moisturizing lipstick I love. It’s called Marsala Blush and it goes with everything I wear and every eye makeup color combo I use!

  1. What is your favorite makeup brand?

I’ve joined the ColourPop bandwagon in the last few months! My sister says I am obsessed, which is basically true. I also like e.l.f. and NYC cosmetics.

  1. Can you recommended two great products for us to try?
  • ColourPop SuperShock Eyeshadow in DGAF (I LOVE this color!)
  • Voluminous Miss Manga Rock mascara in Blackest Black

  2. Why did you decide to start your blog?
  3. What beauty tools do you enjoy using? Do you have a favorite?
  4. Did you go to school for makeup or are you self-taught/use the internet for techniques?
  5. What is your favorite color?
  6. If you only had to use 5 beauty items for the rest of your life, what would you use?
  7. If you could collaborate and make your own eye shadow palette with any makeup company, which company would you use and why?
  8. Are you pursuing a college degree? What’s your major?
  9. What is the top reason you love WordPress?
