Ipsy GLAMAZON September Glambag Unbagging & Review

Hello beauties!

Yesterday, I received my September glambag in the mail, and I am so excited to show you what was curated for me this month! It was pretty awesome, and last night I was able to use a bunch of the products I received to help me go out with my good friend Christina.

The arms of the girls on the bag spell out the word “ipsy”!

Here is what was inside!

  1. Pixi by Petra Mattelustre Lipstick in Rose Naturelle
  2. Tarte cosmetics tarteist™ lash paint mascara
  3. Ulta3 Nail Colour in Sizzling Red
  4. BelláPierre Cosmetics Mineral Blush in Autumn Glow
  5. Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask

Last night, I was able to try the Briogeo deep conditioning mask when I took a shower, and the blush, mascara, and lipstick when I was getting ready to go out!

The Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask is said to work and show improvements after three continuous uses, however, since I only used it once it worked just like any other conditioner. It was a thicker texture (definitely more like a mask texture), but it didn’t have a strong smell. It wasn’t a bad scent, however, it wasn’t an appealing scent to me. Nonetheless, it worked just like every other conditioner for the most part, so maybe I will see more improvements with continuous use.

For the Pixi by Petra Mattelustre Lipstick in Rose Naturelle, I was really let down by this product. The color is nice and the texture is great (it’s more of a satin finish than a matte), but it smells salty! The smell of this lipstick is horrendous – it literally smells like I’m standing next to a bay or am standing under a boardwalk. The smell is so gross, that last night I put my ColourPop Ultra Matte lipstick in Viper over it so hide it. I was a little disappointed in this, but since it’s a sample size I guess I didn’t lose too much.

The Tarte cosmetics tarteist™ lash paint mascara is sooo amazing! After only one coat (without curling) my lashes were super long and defined and volumized! I was excited to receive this sample, and I am contemplating buying a full-sized tube because it worked so well and I loved it so much!

Finally, the BelláPierre Cosmetics Mineral Blush in Autumn Glow was super pretty, and looked really nice on my skin. It’s very peachy and warm in color, and it’s actually pearlized so it looks more like a blush highlight. Nonetheless, I can definitely see myself using this product a lot this fall when I don’t want super pink rosy cheeks (the cold temperatures this fall will take care of that for me anyway – my face becomes so red from the cold). I really liked this product, and it is full-size!

I have yet to try the Ulta3 Nail Colour in Sizzling Red, but I really want to go get my nails done soon (after my first paycheck), so I am hoping I can do that and use this nail polish.

Additionally, I had an Ipsy point-redemption in my bag this month too!! It’s the Coastal Scents Pearl Brush Trio!

This trio is three full-sized brushes – a small stipple brush, a medium eyeshadow brush, and a thin pointed brush. The bristles are very soft, and I am excited to try the stipple brush with my foundation! ❤ I really can’t believe I received all of these fabulous products for $10.00 USD plus free shipping!

I hope you all enjoyed this unbagging and review. This is my first glambag in months that has impressed me this much, so I have really high hopes for October’s glambag! Hopefully it’s Halloween themed!! ❤

What did you receive this month? Did you redeem any points? What products did you love?

Until next time!

Ipsy GLAMAZON Early Access!

Good evening beautiful creatures! Today, Ipsy’s September glambag early access went live, and I knew September’s bag was going to be lit! I just had a good feeling about this month, and I am SO excited for my glambag to ship! Here’s what’s inside:

  1. Pixi by Petra Mattelustre Lipstick in Rose Naturelle: This shade is described as a vintage rose, and I am SO big into rosy, mauve lip colors lately. I can’t wait to try this out!! It seems like a perfect fall shade.

  2. Tarte cosmetics tarteist™ lash paint mascara: Uhm, who doesn’t love mini mascara samples!? Especially if they are Tarte! I have never tried the Tarte tartiest mascara, but I am SO happy I have the chance to try it out through Ipsy! ❤

  3. Ulta3 Nail Colour in Sizzling Red: This shade is a really warm red, and I think it is not only reminiscent of fall (red apples, red leaves, red sunsets, etc.), it is also reminiscent of the glamazon theme! Rich reds like this are very old Hollywood glam, and I’m digging it.

  4. BelláPierre Cosmetics Mineral Blush in Autumn Glow: Doesn’t the name of this blush just make you want to melt?! I don’t generally buy blushes, and to be honest, I only have 2 blushes in my whole collection. I always see BelláPierre Cosmetics on sale on Groupon, and I’ve been wanting to try it! This blush looks like the perfect muted peach with a bronzey shimmer – also reminiscent of the burnt tones of fall! Can’t wait to try it!

  5. Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask: Last but not least is this repairing hair mask! Apparently, 4 out of 5 Ipsy subscribers said after three uses of this they saw less breakage and repair of their hair! Lately, I’ve been buying hair products that help define and strengthen curls (I have thick, curly hair), so this weekly treatment looks like it will be great to test out!

  6. Coastal Scents Pearl Brush Trio: This was a point-redemption, and I am SUPER excited to have these in my glambag this month. I love Coastal Scents, and I always need extra makeup brushes for school and when I haven’t had the chance to clean my usual set. I dropped 500 Ipsy points on these, so hopefully they were worth spending my points on! I’m curious to see if they are full-sized brushes like what Ipsy usually includes in their bags, or if they are travel-sized? I am hoping they are full-size! ❤

Coastal Scents Pearl Collection Ipsy 2016

I think Ipsy is coming back and impressing me again because if you’ve read my last three glambag reviews (for June, July, and August), I haven’t really had a great bag this summer. Spring’s bags (March, April, and May) were awesome! I predicted in my last Ipsy bag review that the fall bags would be really awesome, and at least for September it has proven my prediction correct! I can’t wait to un-bag this month for you all in a week or two when I receive it in the mail, and I can’t wait to see what surprises October (my favorite month!!) has in store for us at Ipsy!

Did you look at your early access? Did you redeem any Ipsy points? Let me know!

Until next time!

Sugar Highness August Ipsy Bag

This is sort of late, but here is the unbagging of my August Ipsy bag! This bag is a lot better than my July bag, which was pretty anti-climatic (If you wanna read about it, click here: July Ipsy Unbagging – Hot Summer Nights). Anyway, this month’s bag had a pretty neat theme, and I think the bag design was so so so cute. Michelle Phan, the founder and creator of Ipsy, actually designed the two bags for this month, and I was really happy with the bag design I received.

August Ipsy bag

This month’s bag contained 5 different products:

  1. Marc Anthony True Professional Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco Deep Hydrating Treatment
  2. Beauty for Real I-LINE 24/7 eyeliner in the shade Black Magic
  3. Josie Maran Whipped Mud Mask in Vanilla Apricot
  4. Beau Gachis Paris Pro Series Applicator Sponge
  5. NYX Professional Makeup BORN TO GLOW LIQUID ILLUMINATOR in the shade Gleam

I really enjoyed the Marc Anthony anti-frizz blow dry cream I received in my first Ipsy bag ever back in March, so I was excited to try a conditioner from the same company to use in the shower. I haven’t tried this product yet because I am waiting to get my haircut this Tuesday, so hopefully after my hair is healthy from the cut I will be able to see the true effect of the conditioner on my hair type.

As for the Beauty for Real I-LINE eyeliner, the pencil broke when I opened it because it was already twisted up so much, and I think the heat made the crayon really unstable and melty, so a lot of it broke off. I’ve been contemplating contacting Ipsy about it, because this was the only full-sized item I received this month, minus the makeup sponge. Nonetheless I tested it on my hand, and once the eyeliner is applied, it is easy to blend and smudge. It’s a true matte black color too, which is nice!

Contents of my August Ipsy bag

I don’t have a lot to say about the Josie Maran mud mask, but I was contemplating on using it tonight to see how it works! Additionally, I have not tried the Beau Gachis applicator sponge, but I was SO excited to receive this product in this month’s bag because I’ve been wanting to purchase a beauty blender, and haven’t had the extra money for it. This sponge is super soft, and not hard like I know some beauty blenders tend to be. Hopefully it withstands multiple uses, and won’t wear out like the disposable makeup sponges you can buy at Harmon’s Beauty, or the drug store.

Finally, the NYX Liquid Illuminator I actually already own in the shade “Gleam”!! I was banking on receiving this highlight in the Sunbeam color, but I received it in Gleam. I have 3/4 of a full bottle of this in my makeup box, and I don’t use it because it’s a tad too warm and dark for my skin color. This is a great sized sample too, so I’m a bit disappointed I have more of a product I won’t use that much.

This month’s bag was a treat, and I received good products. Overall, this bag was better than July and June, but it still didn’t have me hyped up for any particular product. I think the summer time is a weird month for Ipsy because my June, July, and August Ipsy bags were not nearly as good as my March, April, and May bags were.

I am looking forward to September’s bag for a few reasons – 1. It is the start of school and fall-inspired items will be trendy, and 2. I redeemed 500 of my Ipsy points for a Coastal Scents 3-Piece Pearl Collection Brush Set that I am DROOLING over! I am sooo excited to receive those brushes in my next bag, because I love Coastal Scents, and these brushes look fabulous. The pearl brushes are only available in a huge set on CoastalScents.com, and it’s a bonus to have access to have three of the popular brushes from that set thanks to Ipsy.

Regardless, I look forward to my Ipsy subscription bag every month, and hopefully the fall months will hold some more exciting surprises!

Until next time!

Ipsy Rebel June Early Access!

Hey beauties of the internet!

A few days ago I received my early access from Ipsy to see what I will be receiving in June’s bag. This bag doesn’t have me as excited as my last two bags had me, however, there are a few product brands I am really excited to be receiving! Some of them are even old favorites of mine! Ready? The list is below!

I will be receiving the following!

  1. The Balm Cosmetics Meet Matt(e) Trimon Eyeshadow in Matt Kumar or Matt Moskowitz (Matt Kumar was pictured in my early access so I believe I will be receiving that one)
  2. ColourPop Cosmetics Creme Gel Liner in Get Paid or Swerve (Swerve was pictured in my early access so I think I’ll be receiving Swerve)
  3. Liptini Cream Lip Color in Pinktini
  4. Boo Boo Cover Up in Baby Boo Boo Cover Up
  5. BioRepublic SkinCare Fiber Mask Set

Okay so the cover-up and the mask I can kind of live without, but who knows? I might be pleasantly surprised with the quality or results! I’m more bummed about the mask because it is only a one-time use thing, but it could change my opinion and be a really great quality mask! Also, the cover up may be the concealer I’ve been looking for! We will see!

Now as for The Balm or ColourPop, these are two of my FAVORITE beauty brands and I am soooo excited Ipsy is sending me these! I hope I am receiving the colors that showed up in my Ipsy Early Access because Matt Kumar looks like a beautiful deep burgundy shadow (I’ve been loving burgundy shadows the last few months), and it will come in handy a few months from the now in the fall! Also, I’ve been meaning to buy ColourPop’s Creme Gel Liner in Swerve!! I haven’t bought it yet because I don’t have a lot of money to make too many online orders (shipping costs kill me), so I am really happy I’m going to be able to try since I am subscribed to Ipsy! I can never have too many black eyeliners!

As for the Liptini, I’ve never heard of this brand, nor have I ever tried or used a lip product that didn’t already come in a tube or bullet packaging. This is going to be fun to try out though, because I have a Coastal Scents lip brush I haven’t been able to use so this seems like the product I will try it out on!

So far, this Ipsy bag looks promising, but aforementioned, I’m not as excited for this bag as I was for the previous months. I also don’t like this month’s actual bag. It has this bold graffiti print which is reminiscent of the late 80s and early 90s. It’s cool, but it’s not my favorite print. I think it looks a little over the top. I don’t really understand the “rebel” theme either – what are we rebelling against? I guess it doesn’t matter since we’re going to be looking fabulous with new makeup 😉 But in all seriousness, can someone explain the rebel theme?

Anyway, comment below what you’re getting! Does your early access show you Matt Kumar or Matt Moskowitz? Or Get Paid or Swerve by ColourPop? Let me know!

Until next time,

Coastal Scents Lippie Order

My mom is the absolute best! She subscribes to my blog via email and saw my Coastal Scents lippie wishlist, and what did she do? She ordered me the lippies I wanted to try (you can find that post by clicking here: Coastal Scents Lippie Wishlist! – I Need Opinions), and also bought herself three different items! She is so amazing, and I am so happy she bought these for me so I can give them an honest review. I really like them (I received two creamy lipsticks and two Smacks lip glosses), but I am a bit disappointed in the formula of the creamy lipsticks. If you’re short on time to read, jump to the end of this article to see swatches and my final thoughts.

The gifts my momma bought me!

First off, let’s talk about the packaging. I really enjoyed the Coastal Scents packaging because the lip glosses had different colored swatches which corresponded to the color printed on the boxes depending on the gloss color you bought. You can see it in my picture above. I also liked the fact that the boxes had the name of the shade you bought printed on the outside too! You can’t see it on the lipsticks, but the lipsticks have the number of the shade, and the color on the bottom of the box.

Coastal Scents Smacks Lip Glosses

Here is the other packaging for the Smacks lip glosses. I really like the tubes these come in. They are thick, and seem to hold a lot of product. Additionally, they have the name of the shade printed on the tube! I thought these were so pretty! My mom bought me the shades “Strut on Nude” and “Cosmic”.

I loved the formula of these glosses. You guys all know I am not a fan of lip gloss because I hate the sticky consistency, but these lip glosses were not sticky at all! They definitely lived up to all of the reviews which claimed they were not gloppy or sticky. The formula is a great texture! A+ in my book.

Cosmic goes on clear and metallic – very shiny and glittery! I love it. This gloss is perfect by itself or over another color! As for Strut on Nude, it was a little disappointing. The color goes on uneven, and it doesn’t stay in place. It is almost like a liquid lipstick in texture, but the color doesn’t deposit like a liquid lipstick – it deposits like a gloss. So the color payoff isn’t great, and looks choppy. I am going to try layering it over a nude lipstick, and see if that helps!

Creamy lipstick packaging

The creamy lipsticks are packaged in these cool bronze-y grey bullet lipstick tubes. They are light-weight, and are nice to throw in your pocketbook. My mom bought me these in the colors 2 and 7.

Color 2 is a pinker shade, and Color 7 is a nude. I’ve been wearing Color 7 the past few days, and I really like the shade! It’s a true nude, and it goes on very pigmented. Unfortunately, this color has the same problem Strut on Nude does – it doesn’t apply evenly. I feel like I need a lip primer or something for this shade to apply evenly and last a while. I don’t know if Coastal Scents sells a lip primer, but maybe I’ll exfoliate my lips or something beforehand and use a lip primer so this stays on better/applies better!

Color 7 is a pink neutral shade, and it is really pretty! I haven’t worn this color as much as I’ve worn Color 2, but this shade applies way more evenly on my lips. It doesn’t last a very long time, but like I said I think I may need a lip primer and to exfoliate my lips prior to applying these lipsticks.

From top to bottom: Color 7, Cosmic, Color 2, Strut on Nude

Here are swatches of the products. As you can see, the products are very pigmented, and the formulas are very creamy in texture (which I enjoy). The colors also compliment the pink in my skin tone I think.

My final thoughts on these lippies? My rating for them is a 7.5 out of 10 (1 being bad, 10 being awesome). For the price (and since they were on sale), I do not think my mom lost money on these because I will definitely use these products and play with them more. I love the shades, and I think I will make good use of them in the summer months to come because they are such summery colors! These lippies are above average, but they aren’t the best I’ve tried so far.

Have you tried Coastal Scents lip products? What are your thoughts?

Big shoutout to my momma who bought these items for me! Love you! ❤

Until next time!
